The Monastery of St. George in Dobrilovina is associated with the Nemanjić dynasty in Serbian history. The Dobrilovina Monastery, dedicated to St. George, is located in the village of Donja Dobrilovina, in the picturesque Tara River valley, on its left bank. The first written record of the Dobrilovina Monastery dates back to the year 1592. The founder of the monastery is not known. The construction of the monastery buildings in Dobrilovina began in 1593, and the entire monastery complex was completed in 1610.
The monastery's frescoes began to be painted on April 18, 1620. The influence of the Dobrilovina Monastery was significant not only on the local population but also on the neighboring nobility and beyond. Its influence was felt throughout the Potarje region. Dobrilovina served as a gathering place for leaders from a broader area of Potarje and Polimlje, where important decisions were made regarding resistance against the Ottoman Empire.
