Bjelasica extends from the right bank of the Tara River, with its northwestern parts belonging to the municipality of Mojkovac. Geographically, it represents a continuation of the mountain range that stretches from the Piva Mountains, through Durmitor and Sinjajevina, and then continues from Bjelasica to Komovi and Prokletije. Its highest peaks, Crna (2,139 m) and Zekova glava (2,117 m), classify it as one of the high mountains of Montenegro.
Bjelasica is of volcanic origin, which has influenced its terrain with many gentle, undulating surfaces, and its highest peaks are rounded and covered in grass rather than sharp rocks, making them easily accessible. Due to this composition, Bjelasica is rich in numerous springs, watercourses, and lakes, and with its vast grassy areas, it represents a significant resource for the development of livestock farming.
